MENTOR ME
There can be no doubt - kids learn from each other. And for adolescents in particular, the power of a positive role model cannot be underestimated.
The adolescent brain is hard-wired to move beyond the family group for life guidance. It is a time when friends and peers become of paramount importance. With the right support, this genetically engrained instinct can be one of the most valuable tools for a young girl on her adolescent journey. |
What's in the program? |
'Mentor Me' is about building connection beyond the immediate and helping forge positive, meaningful relationships between girls at different stages of their adolescence. While the mentors will be given guidance and guiding questions, girls will be encouraged to be flexible and natural with the nature of conversation (within appropriate parameters). The aim is to help younger adolescents find positive role models in their community and to help develop leadership skills in older adolescents.
